For adults, we offer two styles of Capoeira classes: Capoeira Regional and Capoeira Angola.
For beginners, we advise you to attend a few classes of Capoeira Regional in order to get a basic grasp of the nuances and intensity of Capoeira before trying out Capoeira Angola, which is a more intense and traditional form of Capoeira.
If you need more information to decide whether to commit yourself to the Capoeira lifestyle, feel free to come in for a trial class to find out more about the wonderful experience of a Brazilian Capoeira workout. First trial class is free!
For first-timers: Bring a T-shirt/tank top and long track pants/stretchable workout pants. No denims please. It is also advisable to bring a towel and a full bottle of water to keep yourself clean and hydrated.
*All classes are held at Bantus Capoeira Singapore Academy.
If you are looking for a pastime to occupy a hyperactive child, you could try enrolling him or her in one of our kids’ classes.
In our kids’ Capoeira classes, there’ll be plenty of opportunities for children to expend their energy in a creative way as well as learn moves that encourage the development of their motor skills and coordination in a safe and fun environment.
Basic gymnastic moves will be introduced, and more advanced moves (such as walking handstands, walk overs and back flips) will be gradually added to their physical vocabulary as they improve. These Capoeira classes are highly interactive, on all levels, not just between instructor and students. Children will learn to be both independent and socially interactive; encouraging one another and learning to “play” rather than “fight” Capoeira. Rhythm and music skills are further enhanced as children learn to play instruments and sing in Portuguese.
This highly energetic and rewarding class maintains physical fitness and is a great place to burn off some extra energy as well as imparts skills and the ability to focus in your child that will serve him or her well in the future.
Brazil’s sexy national dance, the Brazilian Samba is definitely most recognised in Brazil’s famous Carnaval held annually in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paolo and Bahia.
With deep Afro-Brazilian roots, the Brazilian Samba is a solo dance, danced to lively samba music and often accompanied by Afro-Brazilian percussion as well as fun lyrics that sometimes do not contain much meaning!
The most famous version is perhaps the Carnaval Samba where female Samba Dancers or Sambistas dance Samba on the balls of their feet in impossibly high heels and compete in outrageously over-the-top feathered and sequinned revealing costumes. To achieve the true character of the Brazilian Samba, a dancer must exude a happy, flirtatious and lively attitude in her interpretation of the dance that reflects much of Brazil’s culture.
Only for ladies, our classes are fun and rewarding. They involve the learning and practicing of lots of hip movement while keeping the body held upright and proud. The range of movements vary from quick intricate footwork, sweeping steps meant for traveling and to traverse wider areas, to jumps and hops, all in time to upbeat and sensuous Samba music.
The Samba is a great cardio workout, with much focus on the legs, glutes and abs.
